Use Android Operating System, Nokia Considered Success

Last year became the year the Nokia brand returns into the world of smartphones. Over the past year, the performance of the Finnish company now under HMD Global, the parent company from China, is claimed to be quite successful. In the fourth quarter of 2017, Android smartphones made by Nokia has sold 4.1 million units worldwide. For a year, Nokia HMD has sold 8.45 million units worldwide.

‘Nokia smartphones are well-received in the market so it’s growing fast in the last quarter,’ wrote Counterpoint Research as quoted from Nokia website on Friday (2/2). Nokia has recorded already raked one percent of the global market share. Also, this achievement has not been able to boost their position into the ranks of the world’s top 10 smartphone manufacturers.

With these achievements, Nokia beat sales from Sony vendors in the Q4 period. Nevertheless, Nokia’s success did not last long because most supported by nostalgic sentiment factor. Gliding first in early 2017, Nokia only supplies 100,000 units for Q1. Gradually its supply to the market continued to increase quarterly, 1.4 million units in Q2, 2.8 million units in Q3, and 4.15 million units in Q4.

When compared, the performance of Nokia’s first year with HMD is quite brilliant. They beat the first iPhone sales sold in 2007 ago. But the sale of Nokia HMD in its debut year has not exceeded the achievement of Nokia Lumia, which used to use Windows Phone operating system. Nokia itself seems determined to expand their product portfolio. They are scheduled to launch Nokia 9 Manual at Mobile World Congress (MWC). In addition, they are also rumored to be making a model that has a camera with five lenses at once.

Revived 8800 Sirocco

HMD Global is busy preparing for the revival of Nokia’s old brand. This time the Sirocco premium phone line will be ‘reborn’ this year. Sirocco model is different from the usual 8800, this phone about a decade ago wrapped with sapphire glass, formed steel panels and leather box that is included in the box and became the most expensive Nokia model┬áback then.

The news circulating, the main changes on this legacy phone is OLED screen sourced from LG. As for the camera will be equipped with a Zeiss camera lens self-certified 12 megapixel and 13-megapixel dual camera settings on the back, as well as 5-megapixel self-facing camera face forward.
